How Are We Doing ...

gracerace_img.jpg Grace Race Fund
The orphanage and school building construction is done, thanks to your support!
The orphanage and school building construction is done, and the One27 Academy is now open as of January 2013, thanks to your generous support. We still need your assistance. Please help us raise $5K by July 1st 2017 to fund construction of a new kitchen at the Academy to feed a growing student population. Every dollar counts! We appreciate your partnership and support!

FAQ

What Is It?
The Grace Race is an official USATF certified 5 mile run (walk) as well as a fundraising event to raise money that will go to the construction and staffing of an orphanage in Naivasha, Kenya to benefit children whose parents have died from AIDS and other diseases (more info).

Who Are We?
The Grace Race Fund Inc. is an independant, not-for-profit corporation staffed by volunteers that coordinate and oversee the operations of this annual road race (more about our staff).  This site contains important information about our mission to help the orphans of Kenya, the history on how this event got started, information about our organization and, of course, details and information about the race itself.

When does this road race take place?

The Grace Race is an annual event held usually in the month of October in the town of Chelmsford, MA USA (more about our next race). Whether you are a runnner, potential sponser, or concerned individual interested in helping the orphans of Naivasha Kenya, you will find all the information you need right here.

How do I register?
Runners and walkers can register online at onyourmarxracing.com, or print out
and mail in the registration form (see payment instructions and address on form). We also encourage all registered runners and walkers to use the Pledge Sheet to sign-up family, friends, and co-workers who are willing to pledge a specific dollar amount by the mile or lump sum for the race. (Returning a pledge sheet is not a requirement to participate in the road race but just a way for participants to amplify our fund raising effort. Help us reach our goal of raising $50,000 this year!).

How much does it cost to register?
The cost to register for both runners and walkers is $20 through 9/21/14
and $25.00 thereafter including race day.

What time does the registration table open on race day?
Registration opens at 8:30 AM on Oct. 4th. Please arrive as early as you can especially if you are registering on race day!

Where do I park?
All participants should park at the Kronos lot, one block away at 297 Billerica Rd.

Is there a safe place to leave my personal belongings during the race?
Yes. We have an area set aside in the church for personal belongings. We have volunteers there who will check you in and make sure your bags, clothing, etc. stays safe while you are out on the course or in the gym.

Is there a prize for winning the race?
Actually yes! Starting with the 2008 Grace Race we are offering an $800 purse that is split between the men’s and women’s first and second place winners. That works out to $250/each for for men’s and women’s first place finishers and $150/each for the second place men’s and women’s  finishers.  Our goal for introducing a winner’s purse was to increase awareness and participation of runners, which has in turn helped in our fund raising efforts.
In 2009 we added a $250 prize for the 1st place male and female Master’s runner (age 40 and over), recognizing that some of the most competitive runners in our community are in this age category.

What is the Naivasha Project and how is it different from the GraceRace?
The Naivasha Project assists in fund-raising for the orphanage construction and is managed by members of the Grace Community Church in partnership with the Grace Race Fund. Please see description of Naivasha Project under the “Mission” page.

How can I post Comments and Feedback on the site?
If you are a volunteer, runner, walker or have participated in some way in the Grace Race, we want to hear from you. In order for us to have some assurance that spam does not get posted to our site, we do ask that you register on the site before you will be able to post a comment (this is different from registering for the race itself. Registering to post comments on the site will not register you for the next race). Please be assured  that we do not and will not share any information provided during the site registration process with anyone! Read the comments that others have posted so far.

Where can I send my contribution to this good cause?

Anyone can make a contribution via PayPal at any time by clicking the “ChipIn” link above. We ask that potential corporate sponsors contact us for details on the various sponsorship packages that are available.

Contributions can also be mailed to:

Grace Race Fund Inc.
275 Billerica Road
Chelmsford, MA 01824

Please join us in our mission to make a difference in the lives of orphaned children in Naivasha Kenya by sponsoring a runner or making a contribution today. If you cannot contribute but would still like to help in some way, we welcome volunteers to assist us on race day and to help promote the event. Contact us for more information.
